WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Though I didn’t always know that photography would become my career, it has always been a part of my life. As a kid, I would always say that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. Little did anyone know how right little Avery was.
My first memories of taking photos was when my family took a trip to Disney World, and my parents bought me a disposable camera to document the trip with. I remember being very particular about what I used my limited number of shots on. Not long after, I asked for a digital camera for Christmas. I took pictures of just about everything, because with a digital camera I could! As I got older, I was always the one friends would ask to take photos, which made me feel really great.
As my love for photography grew, I added a DSLR to my Christmas list. As soon as I got my first big-girl camera in my hands, it hardly left my side. I begged my friends to model for me, and even made backdrops out of table cloths.
The greatest catalyst in my photography journey happened when a younger high school friend shared with me her disappointment as her parents would not pay for her to have senior photos taken. I had the gear and a small portrait skillset, so I told her I would make it happen for her. We drove around my neighborhood scouting locations, and I photographed her for hours. These were the first photos I had taken with a real purpose, and I never looked back. Since then, I have taken courses to sharpen my skills and have put together a portfolio that I couldn’t be more proud to launch my career with.
